We will be offering patients age 6months through 64 years a new flu vaccine, Flucelvax Quadrivalent. Studies have shown this vaccine to be significantly more effective than regular egg-based vaccines. Adults 65+ will receive FluAd Quadrivalent. You can learn more about how the new flu vaccines are made on the CDC’s website.
All flu vaccinations will be administered as injections. Lakeview will not be administering the nasal spray flu vaccine.
Who should get vaccinated?
According to the CDC, everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every season with rare exceptions. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at higher risk of serious complications. A full listing of people at Higher Risk of Developing Flu-Related Complications is available. When should I get vaccinated against flu?
For most people who need only one dose of flu vaccine for the season, September and October are generally good times to be vaccinated against flu. Ideally, everyone should be vaccinated by the end of October. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies that protect against flu to develop in the body.
